Reservation Policies for Short-Term Vacation Homes
*Prices may change at any time without prior notice.
*To confirm a reservation, a 50% deposit of the total reservation amount is required. The remaining 50% balance must be paid 48 hours before check-in via bank transfer or credit/debit card. Checks and American Express (Amex) cards are not accepted. Payments may be made to our USD accounts at Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) or Banco Nacional (BNCR), or by Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card. Any fees associated with intermediary banking or financial institutions will be the responsibility of the client. Habitat Vacation Rentals must receive the full amount indicated in the reservation request.
*For CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR’S, and EASTER WEEK reservations, the final 50% payment must be completed 7 days prior to check-in via bank transfer or Visa/MasterCard credit or debit card.
*A security deposit is required in order to access the rental property and will be processed via credit and/or debit card. Once the property has been inspected after check-out, the pre-authorized funds will be released. In the event of damages, charges will be calculated based on the extent of the damage, and the actual amount may vary accordingly.
*Check-in is at 3:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM.
*The number of guests authorized to stay at the property is limited to those confirmed in the reservation. If additional guests stay at the property without prior authorization before check-in, an extra charge of $50 per night will apply for each additional person.
*Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
*Pets are NOT allowed in homes. If a guest brings a pet without prior authorization, they will not be permitted to stay at the property, and no refund will be issued. The reservation and payment will be forfeited.
Security Deposit Policy for Short-Term Vacation Homes
*Habitat Vacation Rentals will request authorization to hold US$300 on your credit/debit card as a security deposit. The deposit will be released within 3 business days after check-out. Any damages, losses, or incidents reported at the property will be deducted from the deposit. If damages and/or losses exceed the initial amount held, Habitat Vacation Rentals reserves the right to charge the remaining balance to the guest’s credit card.
Please note that, unlike credit cards, holds placed on debit cards may take up to one month to appear back in your account after check-out. This timeframe may vary depending on your bank.
Cancellation and Refund Policies for Short-Term Vacation Homes
*A $50 cancellation and/or reservation modification fee will be deducted from any applicable refund.
*Rentals of 4 weeks or less:
100% refund (minus $50) if cancellation is made 30 days or more before arrival.
Between 14 and 30 days before arrival, 50% of the total reservation amount will be refunded (minus $50).
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 14 days prior to arrival.
*Rentals longer than 4 weeks:
100% refund (minus $50) if cancellation is made 60 days or more before arrival.
Between 31 and 59 days before arrival, 50% of the total reservation amount will be refunded (minus $50).
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days prior to arrival.
*No refunds apply if guests arrive later than scheduled, depart earlier, or decide not to stay at the property.
*We reserve the right to terminate your stay without refund or compensation if your behavior is considered unacceptable and causes disturbance to us, neighbors, or other guests, or if you violate any reservation or stay conditions.
*** If your rental is considered a Long-Term Stay (30 days or more), please contact us by email. In such cases, a specific rental agreement will be prepared with policies and conditions particular to the property.
