Reservation Policies for Short-Stay Vacation Homes

*Prices may vary at any time without previous notice.

*A deposit of 50% of the total reservation amount is required for reservations. The final payment of the remaining 50% must be paid prior to or at check in by wire transfer. Checks or credit cards are not accepted. In both cases the payment can be made to our accounts in US$ at Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), Banco Nacional (BNCR), PAYPAL, WISE or XOOM. Any costs associated with bank/financial intermediary commissions will be charged to the client. Habitat Vacation Rentals must receive the full amount indicated in the reservation request. Any difference will be added to the balance due at check in.

*The final payment of the remaining 50%, for CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR'S EVE and EASTER, must be paid 7 days before entering the vacation home by bank transfer.

*Security deposit required to enter the rented house by credit or debit card (blank voucher is signed).

*Check in is at 3 pm. Check out at 11 am.

*The number of people authorized to stay in the house are those confirmed in the reservation. If for any reason more people are staying in the house without having been authorized prior to check in, there will be an extra charge of $50 per night for each extra person.

*Quiet time is from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am.

*Pets are NOT allowed in the houses, if you bring your pet without authorization you will NOT be able to stay in the rented house and the money paid for the reservation will NOT be refunded, you lose the house and the money.

*The last check in we do is at 7:00 PM, if you are arriving after this time please inform us in advance so we can coordinate the delivery of the keys. Any check in after this time will have an additional cost. From 7pm to 9pm, the cost of each check in is $20. After 9pm - 10pm, the additional cost is $50.

 

Security Deposit Policy for Short-Stay Vacation Homes

*A valid credit/debit card is required at check-in to process the security deposit. Only Visa or Mastercard credit/debit cards are accepted, American Express and Discovery Cards are not accepted.

*Habitat Vacation Rentals will request authorization to hold between U$300 - U$1000 from your credit/debit card as a security deposit. The security deposit will be released within 2 business days after check out. Any damage, loss, or any incident reported at the vacation home will be deducted from the security deposit. If the damage and/or loss is of an amount greater than the initial amount withheld from the security deposit, Habitat Vacation Rentals reserves the right to charge the remaining balance to the guest's credit card.

 

Cancellation and Refund Policies for Short-Stay Vacation Homes

*Cancellation and/or reservation modification fees of $50 will be deducted from any processing or refund when applicable.

*Rentals of 4 weeks or less: 100% refund (less $50) when cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to arrival. Between 14 and 30 days prior to arrival 50% of the total amount of the reservation (less $50) will be refunded. If the cancellation is made within 14 days prior to arrival NO refunds of the deposit paid will be made.

*Rentals for terms longer than 4 weeks: 100% refund (less $50) when cancellation is made 30 days or more prior to arrival. Between 14 and 30 days prior to arrival, 50% of the total amount of the reservation (less $50) will be refunded. If cancellation is made within 14 days prior to arrival NO refunds of the deposit paid will be made.

*If for any reason you enter a few days later to the reserved house, decide to leave earlier or not to stay at the place, NO refund applies.

*We reserve the right to terminate your stay, without any refund or compensation, if you engage in behavior that we consider unacceptable and which causes a nuisance to us, our neighbors or other guests, or if you fail to comply with any of the conditions of the reservation or stay.

 

Policy COVID-19 for Short-Stay Vacation Homes

*ANY RESERVATION THAT IS OUT OF THE GRACE PERIOD OF CANCELLATION, can only and exclusively be modified when by order of the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica, the free transit is restricted and preventive measures are taken by COVID-19 that prevent the client from enjoying the reservation.

*The exception in the modification period will be 5 days prior to the date of entry to the vacation home. No modifications will be accepted within 5 days prior to arrival. NO refunds of the deposit paid will be made, ONLY the dates of the reservation will be postponed according to availability. Cancellation/reservation modification fees of $50 will be deducted from any refund processing when applicable.

*If you need to modify your reservation due to COVID-19 infection, we will request a medical certificate with your name on it stating that your test was positive, so we will proceed to modify the dates of the reservation. Reservation modification fees of $50 will be deducted from any processing fees.

*If for any reason you decide not to stay at the site, NO refund applies.

 

*** If your rental is for a Long Stay, 30 days or more, please contact us by email, in this case a specific lease agreement will be prepared with the particular policies and considerations of the property.
